The author believes we should not pick up any junk food that falls on pavement because ants like to eat junk food as much as humans. Ants like to eat sugar (sugar cane) and corn, that means they like chips and cookies which are pretty much all processed food ; as well as meat containing a considerable amount of isotope. Clint Penick came to the conclusion that some ants loved junk food because he tested the ants by finding 100 specimens of 21 different species across the Manhattan. Then, he measured the levels of carbon 13 in the bodies of each species. He believes it's good for them because most ants live in pavement nooks and crannies. So if you drop food in the nooks and crannies, caretakers can save time cleaning the pavements, For the ants already ate all the food. Its also good so they don’t to kill insects. I think ants adapted to human food and thrive well to where they habitats.
