Northland Brown Kiwi

Northland Brown Kiwi
What is a Kiwi? Are there kiwis that don’t live in New Zealand? Are there colourful kiwis? How many kiwi are there? What are the most common kiwis? What are the needs of the Northland Brown Kiwi? The Northland brown kiwi is native to New Zealand and is only found in the north island. The population is 25,000 and that number means they are endangered and declining by 2-3% a year. The North island Brown Kiwi is the most common species of kiwi, so if you see a kiwi it might be a Northland Brown Kiwi. Kiwis are not colourful, they have simple colours like brown and rarely white. They are found in lowland and coastal native forest and subalpine areas in the north island. Did you know they come from the family Apterygidae?
