ANZAC

ANZAC
With the coming of the Second World War, Anzac Day also served to commemorate the lives of Australians who died in that war. The meaning of Anzac Day today includes the remembrance of all Australians killed in military operations.

During war the ANZAC army ate Bully beef (canned corned beef) rice, jam, cocoa, tea, some bread and above all hard ANZAC biscuits (ANZAC wafer / ANZAC tile). They ate these food because there was no refrigeration so they had to eat food that would last a long time without getting spoiled. With the lack of refrigeration, meant that they could get very little fruit, vegetables, meat or dairy products. Chefs were then known as ‘camp cooks’ who learnt to blend a feast from rudimentary ingredients with little more than a pot and a naked flame.

The ANZAC army wears a Hat, Hat Badge, Collar Badge, Belt, Rifle (gun), Puttee, Tunic, Puggaree and Boots.
